It's the little things...

The average toddler can manipulate their mouth with ease.  Like learning to drink from a cup, suck on a lollipop or a freeze pop, or have a bowl of cereal.  These skills didn't come along for Eli until later.   But yesterday, November 14th, we watched as Eli had his first ever bowl of cereal!  Just the day before, he told me out of the blue, "I want to have cereal for breakfast tomorrow.  I want Fruit Loops. With milk.  In a bowl. With a spoon like Daddy uses."  This was the happiest little grocery run ever!  I normally don't jump at the chance to go to the grocery store, but this little request was so special.

Over the years, Danny and I have celebrated sooo many simple, small things Eli accomplished. We have taken nothing for granite because we know many of his skills have not come easily. Like the first time he could pull a sock off his foot (age 3), or took his first tiny hop (age 4), or took his first sip from a "big boy cup" (age 5.5 on Christmas!).

Here's a picture of Eli enjoying his first bowl of cereal.  He can be so challenging, but he overflows my heart so much. <3

By the way, he had another bowl this morning, and says he wants to have it everyday. lol
