When Eli was 3, he was so fortunate to be a part of a wonderful "pilot program", with the greatest special education teachers I may ever meet. The progress he made during that school year was nothing short of miraculous! The next year, he was put into a government operated program (similar to Head Start), and although academically he did well, the social aspect was a train wreck! Because of this, Danny and I learned that public school was not helpful, but actually harmful to Eli developing his social skills.
I must give huge credit to Children's Hospital Early Intervention program, and to his Pre-K3 teachers for giving Eli a solid foundation for me to build upon. Those therapist and teachers are forever in my heart, and I will always be grateful.
This year, as you see from the award above, Eli has done very well with his academics. On a social aspect, he has amazed me as well! On our outings, when Eli sees other children, he will introduce himself and his brothers, and try to start up a conversation. He's also taken more interest in trying new programs at our church. So a note to all the professionals out there who said I couldn't do it... You might have the book smarts and nice diploma hanging on your wall that says you know stuff. But you don't know my child the way I do, and you can't help him succeed in life like I can.
I cannot, and will not take all the credit for such a successful school year. GOD has blessed this family with the ability to do what we do. And Danny works hard so that I can be home to raise our kids. Yeah money is tight, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
I'm always proud of my boys for everything they do, but feeling especially proud today since I get to look at this nice looking award Eli has earned. Congratulations Eli !
