Eli's class has a system that encourages good behavior. Each student starts off on the green planet. As the day goes along, they have the opportunity to move up or down planets based on class behavior. And whichever planet they end up on at the end of the day is their planet of the day. A paper is sent home to me each day with the color planet he ended on, and I initial and return the paper each day.
GREEN - Good Day
BLUE - Very Good Day
PURPLE - Outstanding Day
YELLOW - Okay Day (TIME OUT)
ORANGE - Bad Day (miss 5min from recess, lose job for the day, or miss 2mins circle time)
RED - Call home to parent
So far this year Eli's been on the green and yellow planets. But today he landed on the PURPLE planet!!! The school year started off a bit rough. He refused to participate in large group activities. Telling teachers "no" throughout the day. But is making very good progress with class participation and say "no" much less.
So immediately after school I take him out to Dollar Tree to pick any toy he wanted! He's quite proud of his new helicopter. All for him. Doesn't need to share with Noah. haha
He is making the adjustment finally. So proud of Eli and you!
ReplyDeleteYep he is! It normally does take him about 3 weeks to adjust to new routines. We are very proud of this accomplishment too! He was back on the green planet again yesterday, but green is still good for him. But because he was on the highest planet so early in the school year, I say it's a good sign he will continue to do better in his behavior and participation. :)
