Week 1 - Started off the week with two measly knee push-ups. That's it. By the end of the week, I went up to 5 mins doing random exercises. That week was not about results. Seriously, the only thing I wanted to was to *establish* the habit.
Week 2 - I designed two workouts to alternate. One was cardio/strength, the other was straight cardio. Both took 10 minutes to complete. That week was also not about results. It was about *securing* my new habit, and in doing so, by the end of the week I had noticed better endurance.
Week 3 - This week I was feeling more motivated than ever and began DVD exercise videos. This was most definitely challenging, mentally and physically. Mentally challenging to see these women in the video with absolutely zero marks on their firm bodies. I have had 3 babies cut out from my body.. I have marks on my soft body.. and doing these videos will never change that. That's very hard for me to accept... But I was able to do these videos and try my best even tho I have vanity issues. I'll talk more about vanity a little later.
Week 4 - This week was a combination of videos and 10-minute beginner HIIT workouts I found free online. And I learned that I really enjoy HIIT! I had always assumed I would not like or could not do them. But I do like, and I can do them! BTW that week was most definitely about getting results! I fully expected to lose a few ounces or something. Nope. But that's okay. There is always next week!
Week 5 - Cardio! The 6-letter "C" word I have never enjoyed. But my new found thirst for fitness changed me, and now I actually want to try to get my heart pumping! I have successfully did 4 days so far this week on the elliptical, for 30-minutes each day! Not broken up 15 and 15, but 30 straight minutes! For a bonus workout to help with muscle, I have done short, HIIT exercises that focus on using my own body weight as resistance.
Now... about my vanity. As it turns out, my BMI is in the "normal" range, but MY ideal, mama x 3 weight is 10 lbs less than where I'm at. I've always been on the small side, and that's how I'm most comfortable. And as it turns out, this is called "vanity pounds". It's when you don't have to lose weight, but want to in order to look & feel a certain way. It is VERY hard to shed "vanity pounds", and so far, with 4 months of eating better and one month exercise, I have yet to lose a single ounce! Not one lousy ounce! That's enough to get anyone to just give up vanity. But no, I like the habit of exercise and want to continue.
Sooo...with the advice of my very wise friend, Lizzy, I took out the batteries to my scale! Simple fix! Lol
I also printed and taped some inspirational phrases above where I use my elliptical. ;-)
Thanks for reading!
